Bedroom condensation is one of the most common winter issues. It happens because we release warm moist air while we sleep and bedrooms cool down overnight.
Main causes
- Breathing releases around half a litre of moisture per person overnight.
- Bedrooms often have the lowest heating level.
- Windows become the coldest surface in the room.
How to reduce it
- Run a dehumidifier in the morning for one to two hours.
- Keep doors slightly open at night for air exchange.
- Improve insulation around older windows.
- Use thicker curtains to reduce cold air pooling.
Fast fix
Wipe windows to remove moisture before it evaporates back into the air. Then run a dehumidifier to stabilise humidity.
