FreshDry guide for UK homes

Bedroom condensation is one of the most common winter issues. It happens because we release warm moist air while we sleep and bedrooms cool down overnight.

Main causes

  • Breathing releases around half a litre of moisture per person overnight.
  • Bedrooms often have the lowest heating level.
  • Windows become the coldest surface in the room.

How to reduce it

  • Run a dehumidifier in the morning for one to two hours.
  • Keep doors slightly open at night for air exchange.
  • Improve insulation around older windows.
  • Use thicker curtains to reduce cold air pooling.

Fast fix

Wipe windows to remove moisture before it evaporates back into the air. Then run a dehumidifier to stabilise humidity.
