FreshDry guide for UK homes

Drying laundry indoors is one of the biggest sources of moisture in UK homes. A single load of washing can release more than two litres of water into the air.

Set up a dedicated drying spot

Choose one room for drying laundry and keep the door mostly closed. Use an airer rather than hanging clothes over radiators so air can circulate.

Where to place the dehumidifier

Place the dehumidifier a short distance from the airer so air can flow around the clothes. Do not block the intake or outlet vents.

Use laundry or high mode

Many units have a laundry setting that runs the fan harder and targets a lower humidity. Use this mode for a few hours after you hang clothes.

How long to run it

Most loads need between four and six hours. You can stop once clothes feel dry to the touch and the water tank has collected a good amount of moisture.
