If clothes take hours or even days to dry indoors, humidity is usually the cause. Laundry releases more than two litres of water into the air per load.
Main reasons clothes dry slowly
- High indoor humidity. Moist air cannot absorb more water.
- Poor airflow. Rooms with closed windows or doors dry slowly.
- Cold rooms. Low temperature reduces evaporation.
- Thick fabrics. Items like hoodies and towels hold moisture longer.
How to speed up drying
- Use a dehumidifier next to the airer.
- Spread clothes out so air can circulate.
- Run laundry mode for two to four hours.
- Open the window slightly if humidity gets very high.
Why a dehumidifier helps so much
It pulls moisture directly from the air which speeds up evaporation. Most homes see drying times cut in half.
If laundry drying is your main struggle, a twenty litre model is usually best.
